My story

I started doing this because getting ready should be the good part

Most of what I know about wedding mornings I learned by being in them. Rooms run late, someone forgets to eat, the light is never what the inspiration photo had, and somebody always cries before the ceremony. None of that is a problem if the person holding the brush has planned for it.

So that is what I built the service around. I come to you rather than asking anyone to drive across town at six in the morning. I work from a written running order so the room stays calm. And I build every face from your own features rather than from a look I have already decided on, which is why the trial matters so much to me.

I work across the Northwest and Western Suburbs of Chicago, throughout the Midwest, and further out for the couples who ask. Some weddings are two hundred guests in a ballroom and some are eight people in a back garden. The preparation is the same either way.

  • You should still look like you

    The goal is never a face you do not recognise. I work with your features rather than over them, so the person in the photographs is clearly you on your best day.

  • Skin before everything else

    Most of what people call good makeup is actually good preparation. Cleansing, hydration and the right base for your skin type and the season do more for the finish than any single product.

  • The morning stays calm

    Getting-ready rooms run late for predictable reasons. A written running order, an early arrival and a realistic estimate per person keep the schedule intact and the room relaxed.

  • Honest quotes, in writing

    Travel, early starts and extra faces are priced before you book, not added afterwards. You will always know what the day costs before you commit to it.

Hygiene, in detail

Nobody should have to ask about this, so here it is in writing. My kit is treated like a working professional station, not a personal makeup bag.

  • Brushes are washed and sanitised between every client, not just between weddings.
  • Disposable applicators are used for anything touching lips, lashes or the eye line.
  • Cream and powder products are decanted onto a sanitised palette rather than applied from the pan.
  • Lash adhesive, mascara wands and spoolies are single-use.
  • The kit is stripped down and cleaned after every booking, and the chair and station are wiped before setup.

Products and approach

I choose products for how they behave over twelve hours and under a photographer's flash, not for the name on the packaging.

  • A shade range wide enough to match every skin tone in the room, mixed on the palette when a stock shade is not exact.
  • Long-wear, photography-tested bases chosen for how they behave under flash rather than how they look in the pan.
  • Fragrance-free and sensitive-skin options available on request, arranged in advance.
  • A mix of professional and prestige lines, kept current and replaced well before expiry.
  • SPF-free bases on request for weddings with heavy flash photography.
